Are you a passionate parent or caregiver who wants to make a difference in your student's education? Lafayette Elementary School is excited to invite you to join our volunteer program for the upcoming school year. By contributing your time and skills, you can play an active role in shaping our students' learning experiences. Read on to find out how to get involved and get approved as a volunteer!

We are looking for volunteers to join the PTA Board and support the various roles across our committees. Whether you have a little time or a lot, there are meaningful ways to get involved and make an impact in our school community.

Help Create Calming Spaces in Every Classroom

This year, Lafayette is expanding Universal Design for Learning (UDL) supports to help create safe, calming, and welcoming spaces in every classroom. These spaces give students access to tools and environments that support focus, self-regulation, and learning success.

Lafayette staff has created an Amazon Wishlist of items that directly support these efforts.

We’re putting together next year’s Back to School Team, and we’d love your help creating a warm welcome for Lafayette families, especially our incoming kindergarteners!

The auction results are in, and together, we raised over $104,000!

Our yearbook is officially underway, and we’d love your help capturing all the great moments from this school year! If you’ve taken photos at classroom events, field trips, assemblies, or PTA activities, please share them with our yearbook coordinator, Lauren Berkowitz.

The Lafayette Leopards ultimate team is once again gearing up for some frisbee!

Lafayette just got more accessible! We now have a new accessible loading zone.

This is great news for our community, as this loading zone is designated to support students with disabilities and their families, ensuring safe an accessible entry to the building.

The 2026 Washington State legislative session runs from January 12 to March 12.  Our legislators need to hear from us about the critical funding challenges facing our public schools.

A new Washington State law (ESSB 5814) will begin requiring sales tax on many after-school and enrichment programs starting in 2025. This change may increase the cost of youth classes across the state.

Families who wish to express how these changes may affect access, affordability, and equity in youth programs may contact their Washington State legislators.
