PTA Executive Board Positions

Executive Board positions are all multi-year roles. The Vice President Role is three years (VP, President, Past President), and the Treasurer and Secretary roles are two years, so there is always one person that has done that role previously. The General Membership votes on the slate of nominees at the last PTA Meeting of the school year.

  • Executive Board Position. Three-year commitment: Vice President (Year 1), President (Year 2), Past President Advisor (Year 3)

    Leadership & Governance:

    • Lead the PTA Executive Team and PTA Board of Directors throughout the PTA calendar year, July 1 – June 30.

    • Serve as a bank signer and ensure PTA financial integrity in collaboration with the Treasurer.

    • Facilitate a kickoff meeting with the Board to align on priorities, roles & responsibilities, and planning for the school year.

    • Ensure all Board Members are fulfilling their volunteer duties in a timely and effective manner.

    • Drive the establishment and organization of the PTA Calendar to optimize family engagement, Board workload, and compliance with PTA Bylaws.

    Advocacy & Representation:

    • Advocate for students, staff, and families, with a focus on funding, DEI (Diversity, Equity & Inclusion), accessibility, and community engagement.

    • Represent the Lafayette PTA in interactions with the Washington State PTA (WSPTA) and Seattle Council PTSA (SCPTSA) as needed.

      • Attend the annual WSPTA Convention to stay informed and advocate for our community.

    • Engage with Presidents of other West Seattle Elementary schools to share best practices and support the broader community.

    • Represent Lafayette PTA as a member of the Building Leadership Team (BLT) at monthly meetings.

    Meetings & Communication:

    • Lead all PTA Executive (monthly), Board (monthly), and General Meetings (6 per year):

      • Determine agenda topics and ensure materials are prepared in advance.

      • Facilitate productive discussions and decision-making.

    • Act as the primary communication point between the PTA and school staff, ensuring a collaborative relationship.

    • Meet weekly with school leadership (Principal & Assistant Principal), with PTA VP included if desired.

    • Make a good faith effort to attend and represent the PTA at all major school events.

    • Serve as the liaison between the PTA and school staff (e.g., Kathy/Admin) to coordinate school announcements that support PTA initiatives and identify opportunities for PTA-related communications to be included in teacher and staff newsletters.

    Administrative & Technology Oversight:

    • Serve as the owner of PTA digital accounts (Gmail, shared applications, and other platforms).

      • Manage account access, update passwords, and share credentials with necessary board members.

    Transition & Knowledge Transfer:

    • Host a transition meeting with the incoming President in June to transfer all information, procedures, login credentials, and best practices.

    • Ensure all key documents and resources are well-organized and easily accessible for the next leadership team.

  • Executive Board Position. Three-year commitment: Vice President (Year 1), President (Year 2), Past President Advisor (Year 3)

    Leadership & Support:

    • Assist the President as needed/requested, including but not limited to events, projects, board management, and school initiatives.

    • Attend and support all PTA Board Meetings, Executive Meetings, and General Meetings throughout the year.

    • Focus on internal operations, ensuring committees are running smoothly and stepping in where needed.

    • Assume the role of President in the event the President is unable to perform their duties.

    • Officially transition into the PTA President role for the following school year (July 1 – June 30), ensuring continuity in leadership.

    Financial & Membership Responsibilities:

    • Serve as a bank signer and work closely with the Treasurer and President to uphold financial integrity.

    • Membership Campaign:

      • Lead the PTA Membership campaign if a Membership Chair is not secured.

      • Work to grow PTA membership and engagement within the school community.

    Training & Professional Development:

    • Attend at least one PTA and the Law meeting via WSPTA to understand legal requirements and responsibilities.

      • This can be completed as part of the WSPTA Convention.

    Transition & Onboarding Support:

    • Host a transition meeting with the incoming Vice President in June to transfer all relevant information, procedures, login credentials, and best practices.

    • Work with all incoming PTA Board Members and Committee Chairs in June to ensure a smooth transition for the new PTA year.

      • Provide guidance and support to incoming leaders to set them up for success.

  • Executive Board Position. Two-year commitment. The Co-Treasurer works in partnership with another Co-Treasurer. Currently, we recruit one Co-Treasurer every year so that there is one person with a year’s experience on the team at all times.

    Financial Management & Bookkeeping:

    • Manage and maintain all Lafayette PTA bank accounts, including:

      • General Fund

      • Garden Account

      • Savings Account

    • Accurately record and categorize all income and expenses in the PTA balance sheet and profit & loss statement.

    • Provide a mid-year financial summary to compare spending against the budget.

    • Report on bank balances and recent account activity at each Board & General Meeting.

    • Process PTA reimbursement requests (approximately every two weeks).

    • Ensure compliance with Lafayette PTA and WSPTA Bylaws, including all Treasurer obligations.

    • Maintain PTA insurance coverage and ensure all required policies are active for each PTA year.

    • Support fundraising efforts by providing insights into expenditures vs. income to help optimize financial goals.

    • Lead the Budget Committee to draft the upcoming year’s budget:

      • Hold at least two budget meetings to develop and refine the budget.

      • Present the proposed budget to the Board for review before bringing it to a General Meeting for approval.

    • Maintain all necessary business and charity licenses to keep the PTA in good standing.

    • Once the new budget is approved, update budgeting software and reimbursement forms to reflect correct categories and line items.

    Taxes & Compliance:

    • Work closely with the President, Vice President, and Accountant to file all appropriate tax documents on time.

    Email & Communication:

    • Monitor and respond to treasury-specific emails in a timely manner.

    • Use the treasurer email account for banking and financial communications as needed.

    Transition & Knowledge Transfer:

    • Host a transition meeting with the incoming Treasurer in June to review:

      • Financial procedures, software, and best practices.

      • Login credentials and access to bank and accounting platforms.

    • Ensure that the Treasurer folder in the PTA Google Drive is fully updated, clearly organized, and accessible to the new Treasurer.

    • Schedule a bank signing authority meeting with the new Treasurer and new President at the start of the PTA fiscal year to update financial access.

    Meetings & Term Limits:

    • Attend all PTA Board, Executive, and General Meetings, unless otherwise arranged with PTA Officers.

    • No person may serve as Treasurer for more than two consecutive years.

  • Executive Board Position. Two year commitment. The Co-Secretary works in partnership with another Co-Secretary. Currently, we recruit one Co-Secretary every year so that there is one person with a year’s experience on the team at all times.

    PTA Meetings:

    • Bring a sign-up sheet for meeting attendance and ensure it is properly documented.

    • Print and make available Meeting Agendas (drafted by President) for each PTA General and Board Meeting (President to provide meeting agendas at least 48 hours in advance).

    • Summarize prior meeting minutes (high-level executive summary style) to allow participants to approve prior meeting minutes.

    • Take notes & store them in the PTA Google Drive for all Board and General meetings, ensuring they are well-organized and accessible.

    • Distribute approved meeting minutes to the PTA Board and General Membership as appropriate.

    • Virtual Meetings: Maintain all meeting responsibilities in the event of a virtual meeting. Additionally:

      • Create virtual meetings (Zoom, Google Meet, etc.), send invites prior to meeting, and monitor chat during the meeting.

      • Ensure recordings (if applicable) are stored in the PTA Google Drive and labeled appropriately.

    • Hybrid Meetings: Set up and monitor all virtual communication (video/audio) tools to ensure smooth participation for both in-person and virtual attendees.

    • Meeting Logistics:

      • Book meeting space (and cancel as needed) for all board & general in-person meetings.

      • Register all in-school after-hours PTA meetings and events with the Building/Library Rental and Use system at least 2 weeks prior to the event/meeting date:Seattle Schools Rental System.

    • Become familiar with and encourage parliamentary procedures (e.g., Robert’s Rules of Order) during meetings to ensure proper discussion and decision-making processes.

    Email:

    • Monitor and distribute all emails in the pta@lafayettepta.com account.

    • Direct emails to appropriate owners and follow up as needed to ensure timely responses.

    • Create email labels as needed & store relevant emails in appropriate folders.

    • Maintain an email communication log for important messages that require follow-up or documentation.

    • Ensure consistency in email signatures and formatting for official PTA correspondence.

    Calendar:

    • Update Google Workspace and transition emails to new owners

    • Maintain PTA Google Group lists during the school year.

    • Work with the President and VP to set the PTA Meetings Calendar in July/August of each year.

    • Once set, post all General and Board Meeting Dates/Times to the PTA Google Calendar.

    • Once set, create Google Calendar invites and send to PTA Board, Lafayette Teacher Representatives, Lafayette Principal, Assistant Principal, and Front Office Staff.

    • Update the calendar with any changes to meeting dates, times, or locations as necessary.

    Record Keeping & Compliance:

    • Maintain organized and easily accessible records of meeting minutes, agendas, and official PTA documentation in the PTA Google Drive.

    • Ensure compliance with PTA record retention policies and archival best practices.

    • Keep an updated list of PTA Board Members and committee leads, along with their contact information.

    • Assist with any PTA compliance filings or required documentation related to meeting minutes and governance.

    Transfer of Knowledge:

    • Host a transition meeting with the incoming Secretary Board Member in JUNE of the current school year to transfer all information, procedures, login information, and best practices to the new volunteer.

    • Check the Secretary Folder in the PTA Google Drive in JUNE to ensure everything is complete, comprehensive, and clearly organized so that the new PTA Secretary can easily find and access all past information.

    • Provide a checklist or guide for the incoming Secretary to help them transition smoothly into the role.

PTA Board Committees

The lead for each committee is on the PTA Board of Directors, and they are responsible for managing their team and reporting back to the board. The PTA President is responsible for filling each of these roles, and each role is a one-year commitment.

  • The Communications Team Lead is responsible for ensuring clear, engaging, and timely communication between the PTA and Lafayette families. This team typically consists of one person managing the weekly newsletter, one handling social media, and one handling website updates.

    Team Responsibilities:

    • Work with Board Members/ Team Lead to develop a content calendar and ensure timely and strategic messaging.

    • Create photos and graphics in Canva to enhance engagement and readability.

    • Oversee print communications as needed, ensuring branding and messaging are consistent across all channels.

    PTA Newsletter:

    • Create and distribute the weekly PTA newsletter email to ensure families stay informed about upcoming events, important announcements, and school/PTA updates.

    • Ensure newsletter content is clear, concise, and engaging, prioritizing the most important information for families.

    Social Media:

    • Manage the PTA’s digital presence across Instagram and Facebook—drive engagement by sharing PTA events, school news, and important reminders.

    • Develop strategies to link social media channels for improved efficiency and cross-posting.

     Website:

    • Act as the PTA Website Manager, ensuring the site is up-to-date, user-friendly, and reflective of current events and initiatives.

    Transfer of Knowledge:

    • Host a transition meeting in June with incoming Communication Team Lead to transfer all login credentials, best practices, and content strategies.

    • Check the Communications Folder in the PTA Google Drive in June to ensure all materials are organized, complete, and easy to access for the next Board.

  • PTA & School Partnerships:

    • Collaborate regularly with school staff (e.g., Counselor, Interventionists, Special Education team, MLL support staff) to align PTA efforts with equitable services and student support needs.

    • Attend and/or connect with the school’s Race & Equity Team and bring relevant updates, insights, and opportunities back to the PTA.

    • Support school initiatives related to Restorative Practices/Restorative Justice, inclusion, and student well-being.

    DEIA Strategy & Committee Leadership:

    • Lead a DEIA Committee to support planning, execution, and shared ownership of DEIA-related initiatives.

    • Develop and maintain annual DEIA goals and priorities, ensuring equity and inclusion are embedded across all PTA programs, events, and communications.

    • Ensure DEIA is not a stand-alone effort, but integrated into every aspect of PTA work.

    • Delegate or partner with committee members to support specific focus areas (e.g., Special Education, accessibility, cultural events, family engagement).

    Inclusion, Accessibility & Student Support:

    • Promote inclusive practices that support all students, including those receiving Special Education services, multilingual learners, and historically underrepresented groups.

    • Serve as a resource and connector for families seeking information or support (not as an individual case advocate).

    • Ensure PTA events, communications, and programs are designed with accessibility in mind (language access, financial accessibility, sensory considerations, etc.).

    • Provide and maintain a Global Calendar of cultural holidays and observances to reflect the diversity of the school community.

    • Promote awareness and inclusion of students receiving Special Education services, including sharing resources and supporting family engagement.

    • Coordinate or support at least one annual awareness initiative (e.g., Disabilities Awareness Month) to promote inclusion, empathy, and understanding.

    • Build connections with district and community Special Education resources to share relevant information and opportunities with Lafayette families.

    Accessibility Tools & Meeting Support:

    • Set up and monitor translation tools (e.g., Microsoft Translator) at PTA General Meetings.

    • Communicate availability of translation and accessibility supports to families.

    • Coordinate childcare for PTA meetings to increase accessibility and participation.

    Communication & Community Engagement:

    • Share DEIA-related updates, resources, and opportunities at Board Meetings and through PTA communications.

    • Collaborate with the Communications team to ensure messaging is inclusive, representative, and accessible.

    • Build relationships with families to better understand barriers to engagement and identify opportunities to improve inclusion.

    Transfer of Knowledge:

    • Host a meeting with the incoming DEIA Chair in June of the current school year to transfer all information, procedures, login credentials, and best practices.

    • Check the DEIA Folder in the PTA Google Drive in June to ensure everything is complete, comprehensive, and clearly organized so the new PTA can access all past information.

  • The Enrichment Coordinators are responsible for managing Lafayette’s After-School Enrichment Program, offering diverse, high-quality extracurricular opportunities to students while ensuring smooth operations, strong communication, and a safe, positive experience for all participants. This is the PTA’s only paid position, with a healthy stipend. It’s a rewarding way to help shape engaging experiences for Lafayette kids while working closely with parents, teachers, and vendors.

    This is a 2-person team: Chair/Program Manager + Coordinator.

    Time Commitment: ~6 hours/week during sessions on-site + ~1–2 hours/week of planning/admin
    Note: Some work is required over summer to ensure a smooth Fall start.
    Each enrichment session typically runs 8 weeks.

    Program Administration & Vendor Coordination:

    • Manage the Homeroom website, the platform where parents register, make payments, and vendors manage documents/payments. All non-email family communications about Enrichment will be handled through Homeroom.

    • Coordinate all vendor relationships:

      • Outreach to new and existing vendors

      • Scheduling, pricing, and contract details

      • Check vendor references, reviews, and warnings from other schools’ enrichment coordinators

    • Ensure compliance with all vendor documentation including qualifications, background checks, insurance, and other required paperwork.

    • Provide feedback to vendor managers about instructors and work collaboratively to adjust class materials or instruction for the best student experience and parent value.

    • Research new vendors and evaluate opportunities to expand offerings. Field vendor inquiries throughout the year.

    Parent, Student, and Volunteer Engagement:

    • Recruit, schedule, and manage parent volunteer chaperones for all enrichment classes.

    • Field parent inquiries about class offerings, registration, changes, or concerns.

    • Maintain clear communication with families throughout sessions, including updates on schedules, performances, and reminders.

    • Ensure safe and timely student arrival and dismissal, including working sensitively with students in complex aftercare or pickup situations.

    School Coordination:

    • Secure and schedule classroom or facility space for enrichment classes through coordination with teachers and administration.

    • Ensure classrooms are left tidy and orderly after sessions.

    • Inform teachers about their students’ enrichment class assignments, locations, and schedules; support teachers in helping students get to their classes on time.

    Community & Cross-School Engagement:

    • Maintain communication and share best practices with enrichment coordinators at other schools to enhance program offerings and vendor vetting.

    Transfer of Knowledge:

    • Host a transition meeting in June with the incoming Enrichment Coordinators to transfer all best practices, resources, login credentials, vendor contacts, and program details.

    • Check the Enrichment Folder in the PTA Google Drive in June to ensure all documents are organized, complete, and clearly accessible for the next Board.

    What Enrichment Coordinators DO:

    • Design the program: Select seasonal classes/vendors to offer.

    • Decide the schedule: Set registration windows, class days/times, and session calendar.

    • Play “classroom bingo”: Assign vendors to available Lafayette classrooms and spaces.

    • Facilitate classes: Organize volunteers, track attendance, and troubleshoot issues as needed.

    • Serve as liaison between school administration, PTA Board, parents, and vendors.

    • Run the Homeroom website:

      • Parent registration & payments

      • Vendor document submission & payments

      • All non-email outreach to families about Enrichment is handled through Homeroom.

    What Enrichment Coordinators DON’T DO:

    • Host or teach classes (vendors handle instruction).

    • Pay vendors or manage financial transactions (Homeroom manages all payments).

    • Set up or clean vendor classroom spaces (vendors and students are responsible).

    • Work unmanageable schedules (the workload fluctuates but is predictable).

  • The Events Team Lead manages the planning and execution of all Lafayette PTA community-building events and PTA-sponsored school assemblies throughout the school year, helping foster connection and engagement for students, families, and staff. This role balances event logistics, volunteer coordination, and equity-focused planning to ensure all families can participate meaningfully in school activities.

    Event Planning & Calendar Management

    • Collaborate with the President/VP at the beginning of the school year to draft a PTA Event Calendar, with approval from the Principal/AP.

    • Work with the Communication Team to post all event dates to the PTA website/socials, PTA Google Calendar, and notify Kathy/front office to add to the school comms.

    • Plan events that build community during both school hours and after-school hours.

    • Ensure every event is designed with access and equity in mind—consider costs, transportation, language access, and inclusivity.

    Event Logistics & Volunteer Coordination

    • Work with the Secretary to reserve necessary school building space (submit requests at least 3 weeks prior).

    • Create SignUp Genius volunteer forms and recruit volunteers for each event.

    • Schedule assemblies in collaboration with administration, as needed.

    • Communicate regularly with the PTA Board and school staff to ensure alignment on event logistics.

    Athletic Events & Playground Coordination:

    • Organize ticketed athletic events (e.g., Mariners, Sounders, etc.), including:

      • Securing discounted ticket packages

      • Managing ticket sales, distribution, and communication to families

    • Collaborate with Communications Chairs to promote athletic events via newsletter, social media, and flyers.

    • Manage inventory of playground equipment (balls, jump ropes, chalk, etc.).

    • Order and replenish playground supplies as needed throughout the year.

    Communications & Promotion

    • Draft event communications for the PTA website, newsletter, social media, and physical collateral (flyers, posters, etc.).

    • Distribute and post printed materials around the school as needed.

    Transfer of Knowledge

    • Document event details, learnings, and best practices after each event to support smooth transitions and improvement year-over-year.

    • Ensure records are updated and accessible for future Events Chairs.

    • Host a transition meeting in June with the incoming Events Board Member and Committee Members to transfer all best practices, resources, login credentials, and planning materials.

    • Check the Events Folder in the PTA Google Drive in June to ensure all documents are organized, complete, and accessible for the next team.

  • Primarily responsible for the following:

    Fundraising Strategy & Oversight

    • Work with the PTA Board to determine annual fundraising goals and objectives during the budget planning process to ensure fundraising efforts align with PTA priorities and funding needs

    • Establish and lead a Fundraising Committee responsible for planning and executing the PTA’s two main fundraisers — the Move-a-Thon and the Auction

    • Support and guide Fundraising Committee leads to ensure events are successful, accessible, and expenses are managed effectively to optimize fundraising outcomes

    • Lead the development and execution of additional fundraising efforts (e.g., Krispy Kreme sales, Family Fun Center nights, Lafayette swag sales, etc.) to supplement the PTA budget

    Community Partnership & Passive Fundraising

    • Lead and coordinate all Dine-Out Nights (restaurant partnerships) throughout the school year

    • Manage passive fundraising programs, including but not limited to Box Tops, corporate matching gifts, Amazon Smile (if applicable), and grocery store partnerships

    • Coordinate corporate sponsorship outreach and cultivate relationships with local businesses and community partners to secure event sponsors and in-kind donations for fundraising events

    Communication & Promotion

    • Collaborate with the Communications Chair to promote fundraising events and opportunities across PTA newsletters, social media, and school communications

    • Create and distribute physical flyers and posters to promote fundraising opportunities within the school and local community

    • Provide timely updates and reminders to the Lafayette community about ongoing and upcoming fundraising initiatives

    Event Logistics & Volunteer Coordination

    • Recruit, organize, and manage volunteers to support fundraising events and activities

    • Ensure all fundraising event logistics (venue, vendors, volunteers, permits, etc.) are managed effectively in collaboration with event-specific leads

    • Track and maintain records of sponsors, donations, and fundraising results for reporting and future planning

    Transfer of Knowledge

    • Host a meeting with the incoming Fundraising Chair in June of the current school year to transfer all relevant information, procedures, login credentials, and best practices

    • Check the Fundraising Folder in the PTA Google Drive in June to ensure all documents are complete, comprehensive, and clearly organized for the next Board

  • Primarily responsible for the following:

    PTA Legislative Engagement

    • Serve as the primary liaison between Lafayette PTA and Washington State PTA (WSPTA) and Seattle Council PTSA (SCPTSA) on legislative issues impacting public education

    • Field and process all WSPTA and SCPTSA legislative meeting requests and event opportunities

    • Attend WSPTA and SCPTSA meetings (virtual or in-person) as the Lafayette PTA legislative representative, or coordinate a proxy from the PTA Board if unable to attend

    • Bring legislative updates, initiatives, and policy discussions from WSPTA & SCPTSA to the PTA Board for discussion and input

    • Work with the President and Vice President in August/September to set a Lafayette PTA legislative attendance calendar for the school year

    • Encourage and organize Lafayette PTA participation in WSPTA’s Legislative Assembly and Focus Day in Olympia

    • The Legislative Chair also leads the Executive Nominating Committee in Spring, if no other lead is found

    Advocacy & Community Engagement:

    • Identify and share actionable advocacy opportunities (e.g., letter-writing campaigns, testimony at school board or city council meetings, petitions, community rallies) with the PTA Board and families.

    • Build relationships with elected officials and decision-makers to ensure Lafayette’s school community has a voice in public policy discussions.

    • Collaborate with the Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Chair to ensure advocacy efforts align with PTA DEI goals and amplify underrepresented voices.

    • Help facilitate family and student engagement in advocacy initiatives when appropriate.

    • Foster a culture of civic engagement within the Lafayette community by making advocacy accessible, inclusive, and relevant.

    Communication & Information Sharing

    • Monitor and process incoming emails and materials from WSPTA and SCPTSA regarding legislative updates

    • Share key legislative updates at Board Meetings and provide relevant content for family newsletters and PTA communications

    • Collaborate with the Communications Chair to ensure timely legislative information reaches the school community

    Transfer of Knowledge

    • Host a meeting with the incoming Legislative Chair in June to transfer all relevant information, procedures, login credentials, and best practices

    • Check the Legislative Folder in the PTA Google Drive in June to ensure all documents are complete, comprehensive, and clearly organized for the next Board

    • Assist in updating WSPTA and SCPTSA contacts by registering the new Legislative Chair and removing outdated leadership contacts

  • This role helps build a strong, connected Lafayette community by supporting both our classroom room parents and our incredible school volunteers. If you enjoy organizing, connecting people, and helping others feel included, this is a great way to make a big impact!

    Room Parent Coordination

    • Recruit and coordinate Room Parents for all classrooms (outreach at summer events, Curriculum Night, etc.)

    • Host Room Parent orientation and 2–3 informal meetups/socials per year to build engagement

    • Gather and maintain Room Parent contact information and encourage PTA membership

    • Serve as the liaison between PTA Board and Room Parents, sharing relevant PTA updates and meeting recaps

    • Provide extra support to Kindergarten and first-time Room Parents

    • Help guide equitable class gift-giving practices and use of excess funds (e.g., class supplies/crafts)

    • Document and share best practices for Room Parents, including a transition process from year to year

    Volunteer Coordination

    • Build and maintain a list of interested school volunteers, skill sets, and availability

    • Work with Assistant School Secretary (Selina Jackson) to support volunteer background checks and SPS process

    • Collaborate with Event Chairs to recruit and organize volunteers for PTA events throughout the year

    • Partner with Lafayette Interventionist (Alden Alvarado) to recruit and manage tutors, including tracking hours and submitting stipend requests

    • Manage volunteer signups (SignUp Genius) for events and activities

    • Recognize and celebrate volunteers throughout the year to encourage ongoing engagement

    Additional Responsibilities

    • Ensure clear communication and coordination between Room Parents, volunteers, teachers, administration, and PTA Board

    • Document best practices and lessons learned to support smooth transitions each year

    Transfer of Knowledge:

    • Host a meeting with new Room Parent & Volunteer Coordinators in June of the current school year to transfer all information, procedures, login credentials, and best practices to the new volunteers

    • Check Room Parent & Volunteer Coordinator Folders in PTA Google Drive in June to ensure everything is complete, comprehensive, and clearly organized so the new PTA can find and access all past information

    • Serves as a member of the board for one year immediately following their term as President. Provides historical perspective, continuity, and guidance to support the Executive Board and committee leads.

    • Principal, Vice Principal, and two Teacher Reps

    • Attend PTA board & general meetings

    • Be available for ad-hoc questions from PTA board

    • Serve as the conduit between the PTA board and the Lafayette staff

      • Bring ideas from staff to the board

      • Find out information needed from the staff for the board

    • Collaborate to determine how to best allocate our PTA funds

    • Encourage staff to attend PTA sponsored events

  • Board position term lasts from July 1 through June 30th.

  • Executive Board Nominees will be voted on/approved at the last PTA meeting of the school year (June). Additional PTA Board members will be appointed by the President.

  • All Board members must have an active PTA membership.

  • Expectations for All PTA Board Members:

    • Attend all PTA Board Meetings (monthly) and General Meetings (3x/year).

    • Participate in events throughout the year.

    • Volunteer at 2 events per year minimum.

    • Responsible for successful transitions between Boards.

    • Recruit for the next year’s Board positions.
