PTA position highlight: Enrichment

📢 ENRICHMENT COORDINATORS NEEDED 📢

The PTA is seeking two Enrichment Coordinators for the 26/27 school year.

Lafayette’s enrichment programming is a source of great pride for the Leopard community. The PTA is thrilled to provide our students with opportunities to learn, play, and explore in these varied after school classes. But we know from experience that this vital role can be hard to fill.

So first, let’s clear up some misconceptions:

What Enrichment Coordinators DO:

• Design the program by picking each season’s classes/vendors

• Decide on the enrichment schedule, including registration periods, days and times

• Play a seasonal game of “classroom bingo,” assigning enrichment vendors to appropriate Lafayette classrooms/spaces

• Facilitate classes (by organizing volunteers, tracking attendance and troubleshooting)

• Serve as liaison between school admin, PTA, and vendors

• Earn a modest stipend (this is the PTA’s only paid position!)

What Enrichment Coordinators DON’T DO:

• Host or teach classes (leave that to the professionals)

• Pay vendors or act as financial intermediary (all hosted by third-party software)

• Set up or clean vendor classroom spaces

• Work crazy schedules (the time commitment varies during the season but is approximately 6 hours per week running classes on-site, and 1-2 hours per week on behind-the-scenes programming work.)

Ideal candidates are detail-oriented, skilled at managing project timelines, strong communicators, and have experience volunteering in Lafayette classrooms. This is an extremely fulfilling role that impacts more than 200 Lafayette students and their families each year.

Our current coordinators are ready to help new enrichment leaders transition into the roles (they’ll give you the good, the bad, and the loud & chaotic).  Ideally, our new coordinators will shadow the current Enrichment team to learn the process during the ‘26 Fall session, which has already been planned.

This role does require some summer work for planning the fall enrichment session.

The Enrichment team is committed to eliminating barriers and increasing opportunities for all students at our school.  This is a great way to provide Lafayette families with additional childcare while exposing our students to a variety of activities.
