Staff Appreciation Week is May 7 -11

Sign Up here to help out!

While many room parents are organizing ideas for individual classrooms, we want to make sure all of Lafayette’s Staff  (ie-  administration, specialists, custodians, instructional assistants) feel the love from the Leopard Community.  Let’s work together so everyone feels appreciated.

Many helping hands are needed throughout the week- especially on Friday for the Taco luncheon.

Thanks in advance for your support and volunteering!

Nominations for Golden Acorn Award Due 4/24

What is a Golden Acorn Award? A Golden Acorn Award is presented by a local PTA or council to a school or community volunteer in recognition of her or his dedication and service to children and youth. Since the beginning of this program in the 1930s, more than 54,000 Golden Acorn Awards have been presented to volunteers throughout Washington state. Recipients receive a certificate and pin, and a contribution is made in their name to the Washington State PTA Scholarship Program that benefits students.”

The Lafayette PTA is proud to continue the tradition of recognizing a Golden Acorn recipient(s) from our school again this year.  A Golden Acorn is a very special award given by our PTA to individuals who have given outstanding volunteer service and shown dedication to our children and youth.  Candidates are required to be PTA members, demonstrate service to all students, and their volunteer service generally extends into the community in addition to their service through PTA and the school environment.  Each individual chosen to receive this award will receive a hand-painted gold pin in the shape of an acorn; a special certificate and a $70 contribution will be made in their name to the Washington State PTA Scholarship Foundation.  These funds provide scholarships for post-secondary students.  We would like you to participate in the selection of our award recipients(s) through your recommendations.  Nominations will be accepted from now through April 24, 2018 by completing the form below.  Our Golden Acorn Award committee will make the final selection.

We are looking for parents that have gone above and beyond in their contributions to the Lafayette community, who enrich our school and who leave a strong legacy for others to follow. This award is about appreciation of their dedication and the positive impact that they have made.

Thank you!

Girls on the Run

Girls on the runLafayette is launching a Girls on the Run Program in March, and we are looking for a few volunteer coaches! Girls on the Run is a transformational physical activity based positive youth development program for girls in 3rd-5th grade.

Do coaches have to be runners?
Not a runner? Not a problem! Girls on the Run is for anyone looking to inspire our girls to be healthier, more confident, and empowered! This is much more than a running program.

When is the program and how long are practices?
The Girls on the Run season runs from March until May. The girls practice Mondays and Thursdays from 2:30-3:45pm at Lafayette Elementary. As a coach, this means between 5-6 hours per week, including prep time, practice time, and time for communication with families and GOTR staff.
