What is summer slide? It is not a piece of playground equipment. It refers to the loss of academic skills and knowledge children experience during the summer when they are out of school. Children who don’t read during the summer can lose up to three months of reading progress and that loss has a cumulative, long-term effect. Avoid losing learning skills by keeping those brains busy over the summer months. This will help save time and energy having to re-learn material in the Fall.
