Dear Lafayette Families,
We would like to start by saying a HUGE THANK YOU for all of your generosity during Teacher Appreciation week. We are fortunate to have both a wonderful staff of teachers as well as such an involved community of parents. This truly sets us apart as a great school!
It is hard to believe that this will be our last newsletter this year. The year has gone by so fast. We have a lot to be proud of this year as we accomplished implementing our MTSS (multi-tiered systems of support) team which has been a model of success for the district. We also implemented school wide assessments that allowed teachers to better differentiate to meet the needs of all learners in the classroom. We look forward to continuing our growth as a community as we finish out this year and move into the next one.
Along with spring often comes a time we say goodbye to staff members as they move on to the next phase in their life. This year we have three teachers who are retiring: Laurie Belfor, Sharon Rollins, and Kent Ferris. Erin Bell will also be moving on to a new school next year. She hopes to be closer to her family. Lastly, Regina Ferguson will be taking a leave of absence for a year. We thank them for their years of dedication to the student’s and families at Lafayette and wish them luck. Staffing announcements for next year’s classrooms will be sent out later this week.
We have a bunch of fun events coming up and hope to see all of you there. This Friday brings our annual Spring Fling and Art Fair. This is one of the most anticipated events of the year and the kids love it. Also, the end of the year brings the Volunteer tea (June 5th), Field Day (June 13th) and the End of Year Awards Assembly on June 19th.
We are halfway done with the end of year testing. Please make sure you check the schedule of your child’s assessment date and time and have them here rested and well fed. MSP and MAP wrap up on June 6th. First and Second graders will also be taking a new district math test this week. If you have any questions, please ask your child’s teacher.
If you have any questions, comments or feedback, do not hesitate to call or come by. Please know our doors, and the doors to your child’s classrooms, are always open and that together we can ensure your child’s experience at school is a happy one.
